we have a roofbox simply cos we have nowhere to store a trailer.

If I had a garage I would have a trailer.... and probably still use the roofbox! LOL

We started off with just topbox when kids were small, as they and tent got bigger we then bought secondhand cheap trailer this was fine, just slows you down on motorways a lot and husband wasn't that keen on towing then.  When we decided to get TT we had to get rid of trailer lack of storage, plus you can get so much in TT it wasn't needed for camping, we still always use the topbox no matter what.

We had the same problem, and opted for a trailer.  Like Rickit on the first page, it's permantely packed in the garage, we pack clothes and off we go.  He even got bike racks to go on the top, so we're all sorted. 

The other advantage being that if you do any stuff at home, load up the trailer and your ready to go to the dump (after unpacking the camping stuff of course!)

I think that the more you can carry roofbox and/or trailer the more you will find to take with you, well we always do
