Hi all, I am thinking of getting one, firstly for camping, but also to shade baby-at-play in hot sunny garden (Can't believe it is only April! This weather is FANTASTIC!)

I'd like one with at lesat 3optional sides, so do you have any reccommendations as to which one is god and/or cheap??

Thanks as always

Amanda

Be aware that more and more campsites are banning gazebos. Why? Because they`re not designed for camping use...flimsy frames and not nearly enough pegging points, plus they get left up overnight and when owners go off site. One strong puff of wind and they take off...right into the next tent, your car or, God forbid, the neigbours kids. I`ve seen it happen, as have many people here. There`s a lot of damage caused every year by gazebos on campsites.

Keep the gazebo for the garden and buy a proper day tent instead. At around £100 they`re not that much more expensive than a pop-up, but are made to the same standards as your main tent, will withstand a fair bit of weather and outlast any garden gazebo.

If you do want one i also tried the ones from argos and two went back, i found one on the Studio Catalogue and never looked back, better build quality and cheaper too, we went for the largest one with the side panels as well

plus don't rely on it to protect baby from the sun - they have no uv protection - you can get pop-up play tents with uv protection for less than £20

Tamworth Camping Ltd.  £79.99 for a huge Royal Summerhouse onsite at their shop just outside Tamworth.  Potentially less if you buy from them via ebay (tamworthcamping) - bidding starts at £69, I won one for £77 a couple of weeks ago.  I've been watching the prices on these since last year.  The cheapest I'd found before that was £110 so I was delighted with myself.  It looks like they might be out of stock tonight but watch their ebay shop or ring them.  There is a smaller size for less money too, I think it's called a Royal Day Room.

I've lost four gazebos in 5 years.  They cost £30 - £50 a pop so suddenly the extra money for a more sturdy day tent seems good value.  One on camp nearly ripped into our neighbour's tent with twin 1-year-old babies inside - my partner and his son caught it in the nick of time as it cartwheeled in the wind.  The others all got mangled at home on windy days despite me checking how secure the pegs have been to the point of dementia.  Last year I managed not to lose any gazebos but I lost a lot of sleep on camp checking the damn pegs by torchlight all night!!!!  Judging by what I saw of other people's day tents last year on camp - the extra few quid seems worth it.
