hi my first thought is are you holding the button in for at least 10 secs before igniting and after, also on one of mine i had to lay on the floor blocking the sun to be sure i could see it had worked.

Are you sure you have turned the inline gas tap on. They will be situated in one of the kitchen lockers. You will have four of each for, cooker, water boiler, gas heater, and the fridge.

I find that if the fridge hasn't been used for several weeks, it can take a long time to get it lit, even though the cooker and oven light first time.

Agreed!  I used to think mine was a pig to light on gas, until I realised the problem was me not being able to see the flame properly.  Have now found the perfect, contortioned position and works every time

It does take a few more efforts when it hasn't been lit for a while.

Can I ask, does it work OK when its run on Mains?  It maybe the fridge needs to come out and have a little tlc if it doesn't work on Mains either.

Have found that when you have been driving and fridge is on 12volt it lights first time.

Could try that .also its very difficult to see viewing glass to tell if blue light is showing

You say you can smell gas have you tried push control in fully and release little bit you will here a pop when the gas comes through .
