We will be travelling overnight on ferry to France. If connected to the grey plug, will the fridge keep on running? If it does will it drain the battery for starting the car in the morning?
when we has our caravan we came back from jersey in 2004 there also on the boat was a lot of fairground rides ,snack trailers and big showman s caravans on a overnight freight ferry, commodore ferry's not condor and a chap who was chaining the van down told us we can plug in there , me and the wife looked baffled , and behold theres a free blue 240 electric hook up , so out flys the cable and in it pops,
it kept the fridge nice and cool even though there was nothing in it , but more inportant it charged the battries
talking to the fairground man the electric is allway free to them . it comes off the onboard genney
Another option I'd imagine would be to put some ice blocks in the freezer section of the fridge. When you get on the ferry, turn the fridge OFF, and distribute the ice blocks around the fridge bit.
If the fridge is already cold, and the ice blocks are frozen solid, you'd be surprised how cold it would stay overnight
