I am on the hunt for a cheap(ish) camping table...I am after something that can hold a few plates and some glasses but big enough to either fold reasonably flat or roll up...so whats my choices in regards to stability and usage (not going to break after 3 camping trips) - and are roll up tables that bad ??

I don't have a roll up table but do have a roll up section on my camp kitchen which is really sturdy.  For my tables I have 2, one's a cheap plastic thing from Argos a couple of years ago with metal legs that fold flat on the underside of the table and it's really quite rubbish!  the other is one that folds like a pasting table with legs that can extend or shorten depending on ground / chair height that cost more but is excellent.

We have bought all our three tables from Winfields and our camp kitchen/kitchen storage from the Range and Winfields.

If you want to find the cheapest, I would suggest that you first decide on a model and then froogle it. I like Winfields as they are only very rarely bettered on price and by the time you have added postage, you have not saved much.  I also like being able to choose, pay and take my purchase home with me to admire

I got a fantastic one from Lidl about 2 years ago.

Think they came back again last year so they may turn up again.

We have used a square roll up alluminium table for about 2 years now and have used it at least 4 or 5 times each year. I was surprised as while it looks quite flimsy, it has taken a bashing over the past two years and still works well. We are thinking of buying the larger 1.1m type so that we can use it in our utility tent at night with friends and a few beers.

I am looking to buy the Argos one for 17.99 - lightweight and not too big not too small.

We have the Argos roll up table in Candy Flosses link and it is fine stability wise and a good size, lightweight and easy to store and put up. A good price too. The only problem we have is eating on it. You cant pull your chair up to it and tuck your knees under it because of the cross struts. We use ours as a kitchen table now and have a flat table with folding, adjustable legs to eat from. The adjustable legs are useful if the ground is uneven.

I read a previous thread on this site about camping tables that Focus DIY were selling for £8.99. Bought one and used it for the first time at the weekend - it's the biz ! Folds flat and fits nicely in the boot too.

We used to use one of those folding table and chair sets which is great for mealtimes but gets really uncomfortable for sitting relaxing in the evening - the Focus table plus a couple of deck chairs takes up a bit more room but is so much more comfortable.
