Hi all. Me and GF are off camping for the first time this summer. We have managed to borrow tent etc. off her parents and just need to invest in some sleeping bags and an air bed.
I am a big lad, 20 stone plus, so will need something roomy. We will be going for a test night away in June and a holiday in Cornwall in August. I have been looking at the Vango Wilderness 300XL and the Coleman Hudson 300 Sleeping Bags. As for the air matress we are looking at the Coleman - Comfort Bed - Double. Anyone had experience of these or got any other suggestions? Just don't fancy the idea of freezing, or of our air bed going with a bang in the middle of the night hahaha.
I managed to get the Coleman Comfort double last week for £20 from here. I went on the many recomendations of other UKCS members. I have blown it up and my 18 stone 6'6" son had a comfy nights sleep on it, no leaks in fact no air loss.
wont worry about the airbed i use a cheap red and blue box airbed from argos and im 22 stone no problems. as for sleeping bags just check the sizes they do vary in width.
The Coleman Comfort airbed and a Vango Astral 350 XL will keep you comfy, warm and supported, but suggest you take a cheap fleece blanket as well, just in case it turns extra chilly!
Hi Carl, like you I'm built for comfort not speed. I have the Coleman Comfort double & Vango Nitestar 300XL Square bags, left & right hand so they can be zipped together.
Thanks for your help so far everyone, much appreciated. We can't wait to get camping! Hopefully will love it and pick up a bargain tent in the end of season sales. Think the coleman airbed is a definate now, just need to decide on sleeping bags.
