Hi,

I am quite new to camping having been only twice before, once for 2 nights and once for 1 night. Now I am about to brave a festival in Scotland with a rainy forecast and I am concerned about whether my Pro-action 4 man dome tent from Argos is up to it. I've seem suggestions for extra waterproofing, and seam sealing as well as an extra groundsheet and tarpaulin over the top. I'm not sure I can afford to buy, or will be able to carry lots of extra equipment - could anyone tell me please what might be the most beneficial, or if they have any experience of this or a similar tent in wet weather.

Hi Steffeny welcome to UKCS

We have a Pro-action 4 man tent, we put it up in the garden and put the hose on it to check for any leaks. It was fine .

Forgot to say, we have had the tent for about 8 years now and its still going strong

talking to an old girl at blue dolphin 2 years ago the morning after the national storm and her pro-action was fine except where she had hung her towels from a chord that runs one end to the other and caused a puddle in the roof.

Go to an Outdoor shop and buy some NikWax for proofing - for a 2 man tent you nned 500ml and it comes in a 500ml spray bottle - I paid £6.99 last year and spray my little tent with it and then when dry popped the hose over it and checked for leaks - let dry and packed up ready for use!

We've used our pro action in the best Scotland can throw at us and it stood up well!

No leaks

everyone can say their pro action is ok or not but to be honest ive seen threads of 300/400 pound tents leaking like a seive on here

the only way to be sure is to test YOUR  tent as others have said get it up and soak it with hose, dont misjudge condensation for leaks either very cold water from a tap will produce condensation in tent on a warm day

get tent up and test it its the ONLY way to know for sure

Cammie007 is right - the only way to be certain is to test your particular tent. And the important bit to test and treat is the seams on a man made tent - see my post in this thread here for detailed info.

I bought a River Dome 4 last year, and although I only garden camped it stood up to torrential rain and strong wind.
