Can anyone recommend a decent hub for this trailer? The bearings in both gave up fairly quickly, I replaced the entire hubs a couple of years ago but checking today one is running noisy. I'm guessing the grease was washed out in some very wet journeys last August.
The present hubs are square shaped and have sealed bearings. I would prefer something I can re-grease.
Towsure do taper bearing hubs product code H10 Page 237 of 2007 catologue http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com/product/996 I use them on my 5x3 trailer and have had many years of trouble free towing . They are adjustable and you can get replacement bearings, there is a grease nipple so just cram a couple of shots of grease in every now and again. Just check with towsure that they fit their suspension units.
Is it a secondhand one?
I got a complete beam axle with hubs for my Caddy from Towsure who make them to order at a very reasonable price. The original Caddy hubs were a non standard size. The new ones are a standard size.
Yes pal second hand. I approached them and they advised on the new beam also. Since posting I seen a chap selling 2 on eBay advertised as new bearings. I questioned him and he said they are 6204zz bearings. This may come in handy for someone. Ive ordered a set for 8 so shall see how it goes
How do you find the caddy? My first ever trailer and it’s just for camping gear. It has the extended height which for me is a bonus and for £160 in comparison to the erde’s going for over £300 used I thought I would take a gamble
The Caddy axle beam is bespoke manufactured and you have the old sealed bearing with alloy hubs. You will need to upgrade the whole beam with new cast hubs and grease nipple.
