Please can anyone help us !!! PLEASE. We have just purchased an expensive 3 Way fridge for our tent, It was great plugging it in at home and was lovely and cold when we took away for the weekend. As soon as the tent was up we conected the gas but by day 2 it was positivly warm inside !! We used Camping Gaz - I don't know if that would make a difference ?? We've noticed in the past cooking seems to be hotter on the Butane as opposed to Camping Gaz.
Our friends were also using theirs for the first time on the same weekend and they had exactly the same problem ( their fridge was a different make)
Any suggestions will be appreciated (we're getting an electrical hook up this weekend!!)
Hi there, Camping Gas is Butane, This may sound daft (as your 3 way fridge may be full)but turn it upside down and let it settle for a while and see if its OK on gas, (another idea)have you moved the control switch around far enough to switch gas over. I have used all of the afore mentioned to get mine going.regards David
Hi. When operating most 3-ways on gas, the unit must be as level as possible. Easiest way to check it is to put a saucer of water on the centre of the lid.
This may sound really insulting, but did you (a) definately light it and (b) check it was still alight after it started feeling warm? 3-way fridges can be pigs to light, especially if you`re not used to their little ways. I`ve totally given up on trying to light mine with the sparker button and use a match instead.
Also did you switch the electrical control knob to "off" and turn the gas control knob to "full"?
And yes, on gas the fridge has to be dead level. But when you get it going, gas of any sort usually gets the fridge cooler than on electricity.
I'd go for the turning it upside down and back again.
We had exactly the same problem with our shiny new Combicool this year - it had been running fine in the house on mains power. We took it away on gas and whilst it was clearly lit (heat out of the top) it wasn't cooling.
OH wouldn't believe me when I told him to turn it upside down it took a number of "just do it's" before it tried it and it worked fine afterwards!
