Just trying to decide whether to go for 2 singles and zip them together or buy a double. We haven't had a double sleeping bag before so I'm wondering do they completely unzip into 2 halves? reason I ask is because I'm not sure the whole lot would fit into our washing mashine at the same time not much point in buying a double if I can't wash it.
Hi Frrot - I have a double sleeping bag which I dont use anymore due to the washing problem - I had to use Laundrette with massive washing machines to launder it. They do unzip but not into 2 halves - it is like the oblong (sorry rectangle) sleeping bags that just open up - I would buy 2 singles and fasten together if I wanted a double bag now and then at least I could guarentee getting them washed ok.
Hope this helps

Thanks very much for replying Velvet Kitten that's put me right off getting a double I think we'll stick to 2 singles going by that. Thanks you've been a brilliant help
If you get two compatible singles they will zip together - best of both worlds. When we bought our first "bundle" a few years ago, it came with four sleeping bags - despite being two different weights they zip together -useful, because depending on the weather, we have either the lighter or heavier on on top.
Not all sleeping bags are compatible. I have another one (from my free and single days), and when I tried to zip it to one that Richards family had in their static, they wouldn't.
Thanks Moonseeker, ah yes that's what I ment we'd stick to two singles and zip them together to make a double. That's handy that you can zip two different weights together.
We've just reserved 2 single sleeping bags at Argos, I almost 100% certain they'll fit together is says "2 way zip to couple" so that means two of the same would zip together doesn't it? (My brain is fried after a wet day with 2 little kids running around and screeching!!)
Frootbat - I should imagine so. I think my poor brain is slightly worse than yours - my two (6 & 8) are on top doh, as we are off tomorrow. Been trying to pack clothes, with them helping, and adding things that aren't needed to bags.
To make matters worse, had everything laid out in piles on my bed, when Richard very kindly moves it to Alice's room, piles all mixed up, for reasons unknown.
LOL I know exactly what you mean! My two are 5 and nearly 3. I managed to sneak off once to try and get some bits together but the the eldest one comes up and starts 'helping' arghhhhh.
Have fun, I hope it stops raining soon! tomorrow is meant to be a much better day I think.
