We saw one of those in the camping shop at the weekend and I thought it was brilliant, very sturdy and just the right height off the ground, but it was £12.99 there so Lakeland is a good bargain!
B&Q sell disposable BBQ stands, or should that be stands for disposable BBQs, for around three quid, but not nearly as posh looking as the Lakeland one.
I got a disposable stand yesterday from b and q and without fail my son piped up (15yrs old!) why are you buying a stand you use once and throw away ?? ...... he had apoint it did state on the packaging "disposable bbq stand"
we get disposable BBQ's from the big supermarkets (usually tesco, sainsbury) that come with a disposable stand, we use them for days out, and have never had a problem with them scorching the grass
------------- people said smile things could get worse,
so I did smile and things did get worse.

I got a stand from B & Q last year in their sale, have yet to use it though. Folds flat and takes up virtually no room at all just the thing and no more having to wash up the BBQ grill.
I recently got a fold-up BBQ from I WANT ONE OF THOSE. It takes up even less room in the car than one of the disposable thingies and had a wind shield built in. Have a look - this website is brilliant for all sorts of stuff.
I bought a small round BBQ from tesco for £8 - the box it comes in takes up about the same space as a portable BBQ - it was easy to assemble/disassemble and plenty big enough. Took a ready-light bag of coal from costco and it was ideal.

No problem using bricks, but what we really could do with is something to protect the bbq from the wind. Any thoughts?

OH always puts our disposable BBQ`s on top of the gas cooker, which is on top of the camping kitchen. It is then at a decent height for him to BBQ on, doesn`t scorch the grass and is protected from wind by the cooker lid and the windshield ( if that is what it`s called) of the camping kitchen.
