Aaaaargh, we're wanting a new television for our little motorhome instead of the monster we drag around at the moment and it's causing me so much confusion.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a colour TV which runs off 12V and mains and doesn't cost the earth, one with a DVD would be nice but not essential, what should we expect to pay? What should we look out for eg battery draining capabilities?

Also, to add to my confusion, what is going to happen and what will be needed when 'normal' signals are no longer transmitted?

Any pointers and suggestions will be greatly appreciated .......... thanks!

when the signal is turned off for terrestial TV you will need then to buy a freeview box so you can get digital TV ASDA do some for £20 very very light and small about 6" wide by 8" long.

most of the TV'sused for camping etc can sometimes be quite expensive although you can ge little 7" portable TV for about £20 that can run off 12v and mains as well as battery power  thei one has digital and a DVD as well but is £335

Avtex W102D 7 In 1 LCD TV DVD portable television UK

if you google camping tv you might be able to find a decent one for alot less, we just use an LCD tv with a freeview box and a £10 DVD player although we cant use them on 12V so we use hubby's laptop instead which has TV etc on it

How about one of the small portable dvd players that you get for going in the car on long journeys, some of those have television channels on them but they're more expensive than without.

Laptop & tv tuner card works for me

15" wide screen, enough music to go at least a week without repeating anything and by converting my dvds to be read from the hard disk no need to take any discs along at all, not to mention digital or analouge TV anywhere in the world, Access to OS maps for the entire UK and pretty good mapping for most of the rest of the world too with GPS, and should i feel the urge I can check email, weather or let the missus read the latest gossip:)

All for not much more than the avtex mentioned above

I have a small 7" LCD television that runs off 12v or 240v.  Reception is excellent, much better than the old portable that I used to take camping.

Mine was only £99, but you can get a 10" from about £180 and some of them have built-in freeview.

I have a 7" LCD  TV that I use for camping and was wondering what will happen when the analogue signal disappears as there is no scart input at the back of it.

I guess I will have to fork out for something that will play freeview when the time comes but as most areas are changing within a few years then I will have to get my use of it now.

Anyone any ideas ?

Do you have phono or S-video in? if so it is possible to get a suitable cable with your connectors on one end and scart on the other. The alternative is an RF Modulator (ebay 300116182531)

Just a note of caution when running these 12vDC teles. They are very sensitive to current rating. Get a voltage stabiliser that ensures that the TV gets a steady 12v. the current can vary from 13.8 to 11.5 and that doesn't do TV circuits much good

We bought a 12v/mains/digital/analogue flat screen from Maplins. It was £180 ish and the box it came in is designed to store it in with the little pack of ariel, stand and plugs and leads etc.

We bought it last year but I have to say we have only used it once. We always find we are too busy relaxing to watch the tv.

Dont you mean the VOLTAGE can vary from 13.8 down to 11.5?

Current would be in Amps

Sorry for being pedantic
