From the excellent recommendations here I've decided to get myself a Vango Astral 350 (3 season) sleeping bag. Was intending to get my 5 year old the Vango Astral Midi but I believe that's only a 2-season bag (kinda feel guilty getting myself a warmer bag). Can anyone recommend a good 3 season junior bag, preferably envelope style.
I have checked out the Coleman Hudson Junior but I believe that's a 2 season also
Our two were warm enough in Vango Wilderness 250 bags on Tuesday night of this week which went quite cold. We have the Nitestar 350 bags for us but figured that it was easier to add a blanket for the kids than to start trying to get them part-unzipping etc if too warm! Our kids are 3 and 6 - we got them full size bags and they were fine in those. Kids seemed happy in the mummy-style bags although I wasn't too keen on first try!
Thanks kippygirl. I did read somewhere that kids don't feel the cold as much as adults so maybe a 2 season with blankets (if required) is the way to go. As you suggested a full size bag is an option but I would probably stuff a pillow in the bottom to reduce the air space and stop them sliding down.
Currently out of stock on-line, but available in Tesco Extra stores.
£8, 3 seasons. My 8yr old son used one last weekend at a Scouts Centenary camp. He said he was warm at night, considering it was very cold and with hail showers!

Thanks rikochet but are you sure these are 3 season? I couldn't find it anywhere on the ad?
As my OH keeps reminding me, an extra layer underneath is worth 2 on top!
Our 2 girls (4 & 6) never seem to feel the cold. We were camping last weekend , they had 2 layers of blanket btw airbed & sleeping bag and said they were too hot! ( junior mummy bags from Dunelm last year), about £8 each if I remember.
Our 30mth old used this bag last weekend - in the wind and rain - Aztec swallow 250 midi sleeping bag - recommended via this site. World of Camping stock them for £13.99. He slept very soundly and was lovely and warm in his little bag - and he looked very cute.
Will it just be for summer use (May to August) or for a longer season (say March to September)? For a longer season I'd avoid a kids bag and go for a decent adults three season bag folding over the bottom of the bag. Most kids sleeping bags don't have good enough temperature ratings for me to feel comfortable with my two sleeping in them.
Decent insulation under the sleeping bag is a very good point as well as it makes things much warmer. I'd consider getting them decent camping mats rather than air beds for this reason if you do get them lower rated sleeping bags.
The problem with adult sleeping bags for small kids is that there`s far to much dead air space inside them for a small body to warm up. That`s also the reason that mummy bags are warmer, if you can get on with them.
My kids used Vango Nitestar Midis and they were always warm, even on some pretty cold nights. If you add a fleece liner (Ikea do cheap fleece blankets) then it boosts the temp rating of the bag by one season. If you do that with the Astral Midi, I`m certain she`ll be warmer than you.
