we have bought an outwell side canopy tried it out on alaska 8 excellent piece of equipment apart from we have had problem trying to get the poles to push together just wondered if anyone else has one and are they proned to being tight.
We borrowed one from a friend, and had no problem with putting the poles together. However, when trying to dismantle, one of the poles had twisted round in its D socket and had jammed. It took some persuasion to come apart. I understand that our own brand new one has square ends which are supposed to cure the twisting problem. I intend to treat the ends with some silicon spray before it's used in anger.
Had one for 3 years now and had no problems with it at all, in fact its the best bit of kit ever, never go without it . Once for 2 nights in litchfielld little tent took side canopy and it was nearly bigger than tent, looked stupid but provided somewhere to cook and sit. PamJ
We're thinking about getting the side and or the end canopy for our montana 6. Would be interested to know where you got it from. Did you get it from the UK Campsite link? We love our Outwell Montana 6 (family of 4), no sooner had we purchased it a while back that the newer model had come out with slight improvements.
We had been thinking about getting the extension, but having read in another thread, the benefits of the canopy (better all-round vision), I think we'll be getting one for our impending Cornish adventure.
We're keen on the extension parituclarly because it offers more shelter, ideal for storing cooking and other large items table/chairs to protect them from the rain. Or even to eat under if it's a bit windy.
Shame I'm not on commission for every Montana 6 friends buy after they've seen ours. "benefits of the canopy (better all-round vision" the extension does have windows so you would be able to see out too.
I have just taken delivery of my extension for my Montana but you may be hard pushed to get one now as they were a limited production but I got mine from www.camperite.co.uk at £99.99 and I got it for the purpose of cooking in and having somewhere to sit when it is hot as I am not a sun worshipper or when it is raining etc;
I like the canopy but wanted soemthing that would offer shelter from sidewinds too - I bought windbreak to go across the front if the wind ever changes.
