Hello

You may want to try Terra Nova.

http://www.terra-nova.co.uk/epages/terranova.storefront/46640dcd009e342827410a022f010592/Catalog/4

Or if you dont want to spend quite that much you could always check out Decathlon, they have some good hiking tents at reasonable prices.

I've used a vango hydra for years (mines a bit old now) its meant to be a two man tent but I wouldn't want anything smaller and its weighes 1.8 kg. You get a porch for your tranga and boots and theres room for the rucksack in the tent. Fairly reasonable when I bought it too.

Pro Action used to make a budget one-man tent called Tiger Paws, that always got good reviews.  Then they stopped making it and started producing a different one-man tent called Sydney, that gets bad reviews.

There's a new Tiger Paws on Ebay at the moment, item number 320119789035.  Looks like it might go cheaply.  The vendor has listed it as "single skin", but he's wrong, the Tiger Paws is double-skinned.  I've already got a Tiger Paws (a spare tent, bought when Argos sold them off cheap) or I might have bid on that myself.  But might be worth your while looking at that one.  Check the vendor's feedback etc - I haven't done that as I'm not buying.

Tiger Paws used to retail at £30, then when they were discontinued, they were sold off at £15.  I think quite a few people snapped up one or two, to resell later.

Thanks guys, with the exception of Tiger Paws I didn't realize they would be so expensive. It's only for fair weather summer use if that makes a difference. I'll definitely be following up on the Tiger Paws tent.

Unfortunately most lightweight tents for one person tend to be expensive, you might want to look at buying secondhand, check out some of the sites on the web i.e:- preloved .co.uk and general classified ads....I just sold an unused Vango equinox 200 which slept 2 for which weighed 2 kgs for £50 just to give you an idea of cost...

Robert Saunders http://www.robertsaunders.co.uk/pages/frame.html make some good tents. Also http://www.mountain-equipment.co.uk/  As you say, the ultralight tents are incredible money
