Anyone tried on of these. Tried one in the camping shop at weekend. Seemed surprisingly bright and would save a fortune in batteries. Just want it to light bedroom pod. Use gas lantern for main living area of tent. Anyone had one for a while and what do you think? I've seem some before which seemed a bit cheap and nasty. This one looks good quality - it's made by Ring Cyba-lite. I've got one of their LED battery torches which is great.
My wind up torch gives about 20 - 25 minutes on 3 leds, for 1 minutes wind. I should imagine, as this lantern should give a more powerful light, that the amount of light time would be less than that.
I have been a looked at the details - 8 mins light for a 60 second wind....not sure I like those odds....we can sit up for hours and it could get nasty, arguing over whose turn it is to wind the b****y thing up next....

And 1 minutes winding doesn't sound a lot. But when you are winding these things with the resistance of the generator mechanism, a minutes winding starts becoming a real pain in the ass.
It also says that a 3 hour charge with the 12 volt lead included provides up to 7 hours continued use. I has 15 superbright LEDs. So could take in car when going out and top with with some winding if necessary. I only need light in the bedroom just to get changed and maybe a quick read before falling asleep! Have found one online for £21.50, so about the same as a standard rechargable lantern. Perhaps I'll give it a go...if I don't like it, my daughter can have it for her pod! Maybe that will stop her leaving the light on and wasting batteries, if she knows she's got to wind it up again!!

Depends which bit of your anatomy you are using to wind it with I suppose!!
