I have just ordered one of these: camping chef double burner and grill

it says it runs on 907 or 904 cylinders and it includes a campingaz regulator

am going on first camping trip at weekend so need to sort out a 907 or 904 cylinder, or can I use another type?

any idea where I could get one at short notice in SE London or how much it might cost?

I am a complete novice so all advice gratefully received

you can use a 4.5kg calor gas as well

but you'd have to buy the regulator though

(and you cant replace calor gas abroad but you can 904/907)

you could try the local tip or freecycle in your area - but this being London i wouldnt hold much hope to get one this close without buying one

Yeomans outdoors also sell them if you need it quick.

£50m for a full one, then £15 to refill there after. I got mine from ebay for £15, but if you need it quick ebay might not be fast enough.

hmm, very expensive new

maybe this time round I should cadge my food (or more importantly cups of tea!!!) from my co-campers and try and get one on ebay for the next trip

I checked on ebay and some of them look very rusty, battered etc - does this matter when you come to exchange for a full one?

If you go to your local tip you can probably pick up a Calor cylinder for free, exchange it for a refill and buy a new regulator.  Fine if you are not going abroad.

We were looking for one or two extra Camping Gaz cylinders to take with us as we are off to Scandinavia for 3 months (we have 2x907 already) and they are not available in Norway, where we will be for 2 months.  Sent OH to the tip to see what they had, suggested he get an extra Calor if no Gaz.  He came back with 2 almost brand new Calor 7kg gas cylinders (our present ones are 4,5kg).  We got refills, cost about £32 for 2.  So now we have those 2 plus 2x907 Camping Gaz.

Hope that will be enough!  Will use electric when possible as we have 2 ring electric hob and Lidl electric oven/grill.  Also kettle and toaster, fridge, electric heating and water heater in our van.
