I've bought loads of different camping lights/lanterns over the past few months searching for a nice bright one. I like the UFO style ones because, when you hang them, you don't get the shadow that a lantern base casts on the very area I want lit up. But each light went back to where I'd bought it. Call me fussy but the light from them was usually pathetic.
Netto had one on their brochure the week before last but, in our local shop at least, there was a notice to say they wouldn't arrive in till the end of the week commencing May 28th. So on Monday I trotted off to investigate and they had several boxes of them in. I bought one, tried it out at home in a room that has no windows. It is the best light I've ever tried by far!
They have 24 LEDs, four settings (20 on/4 on/24 on/off). Powered by 4 AA batteries. They are circular, I'd say about 6 inches diameter and about 1/2 inch thick so very space saving. There is a hook and a magnet on the back. Last night I tried one on the roof of our tent using a metal washer to attract the magnet to. The light is bright enough to read a book easily.
If you want a decent light, investigate your local Netto.
P.S. They cost a fiver - bargain!!
