I've bought loads of different camping lights/lanterns over the past few months searching for a nice bright one.  I like the UFO style ones because, when you hang them, you don't get the shadow that a lantern base casts on the very area I want lit up.  But each light went back to where I'd bought it.  Call me fussy but the light from them was usually pathetic.

Netto had one on their brochure the week before last but, in our local shop at least, there was a notice to say they wouldn't arrive in till the end of the week commencing May 28th.  So on Monday I trotted off to investigate and they had several boxes of them in.  I bought one, tried it out at home in a room that has no windows.  It is the best light I've ever tried by far!

They have 24 LEDs, four settings (20 on/4 on/24 on/off).  Powered by 4 AA batteries.  They are circular, I'd say about 6 inches diameter and about 1/2 inch thick so very space saving.  There is a hook and a magnet on the back.  Last night I tried one on the roof of our tent using a metal washer to attract the magnet to.  The light is bright enough to read a book easily.

If you want a decent light, investigate your local Netto.

P.S.  They cost a fiver - bargain!!

I bought something similar last year, and it done the job nicely. It didnt light up the whole campsite, but gave off a nice ambient light that was enough for inside the tent and around where we sat. The batteries lasted the whole two weeks (3xAA).

Looked like this but in black

I've just bought the Netto version simply called 'LED Camping Light'.  Its just what I've been looking for. Thanks Ailish.  I did notice however, the + and - signs that indicate which way the battries go in were the wrong way round.  I put them in that way and the back didnt close.  I put them in the other way and ....all fine.  louise

Sorry for the delay.  I was at work.

The ones I've bought are made in China by In Design and imported by Netto.  Here's a pic of part of the packaging.

Actually, I've come across the same issue as louisej... on one of the lights I bought the polarity labels are the wrong way round.  Also on the pic above, switch functions 1 & 2 should swap places according to the way the lights actually work.  However they are still great lights and if you live near Netto, I don't think you'll regret buying one.

Of course, now that I've finally sourced some in the UK, I now find lots of apparently identical ones appearing on ebay UK, click here.
