Hello Campers!

We recently bought an Outwell, Arrow Lake Polycotton Tent and while giving it a covering of Fabsil in our garden it also got covered in purple bird poo!  As you probably know this is the time when the birds are eating cherry clossom and such and I know from experience of having my washing bombed with the stuff, it is very hard to wash out.  Added problem is that Outwell state that you can only wash Polycotton tents with water.  Any ideas please would be welcome.

Many thanks

Dee

I would let it dry, brush it off as best I could, sponge down the residue then live with it. Anything else runs the risk of wrecking the canvas. Hopefully the stains will sun fade in time. There are tent cleaners availible, but then you have to reproof and there`s no guarantee that a tent cleaner will remove a stain. Most canvas tents have a variety of stains, so you won`t be alone.

Can I just ask why you were treating a new tent with Fabsil anyway? A new tent should be waterproof without any other treatment except weathering in the canvas.

GODDAMNN sh*tEHAWKS...So i take it a household pre-wash cleaner will harm the fabric.. leave a discoloured patch will it ?  maybe try some on a spare piece and rewaterproof it later .. i dunno ..not au fait with tents ..just a thought

Hi Val and Wildie

Thanks for the reply,  we bought the tent from an exhibition,  it was new but been on display for a week, so we had to give it a clean as it had been under trees and thought we might as well redo the Fabsil while we were at it.

Thanks again

Dee
