A work mate of mine recently told me that he had swapped his gas/electric fridge for a normal household fridge in his caravan as he very rarely used it with gas plus the new fridge had much more storage space inside and fitted the cupboard where the original one came from, i am very tempted to do the same can anybody recommend doing it having done the same or would there be any problems i havent forseen? if you have and it worked out ok can you recommend any particular fridges that are a suitable size for a tourer

I wouldn't do it if you are planning on selling the van at some point in the future as it could well put potential purchasers off if there was no gas option. Also the lack of 12v means it can't be chilled whilst en route from the car electrics.

If the fridge isn't big enough and you always have EHU, why not get another mini fridge or electric coolbox and use that as well, instead of mucking about with the caravan fridge?
