I've been looking round for a folding table for next time we go away. Don't want to spend too much money though.

Found this one at Argos: http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-1428744-10294381?url=http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3400346/Trail/C%24cip%3D50353.Sports%2Band%2Bleisure%3EC%24cip%3D50354.Camping%2Band%2Bcaravaning%3EC%24cip%3D50362.Camping%2Bfolding%2Bchairs%2Band%2Btables.htm

Anyone got one, are they any good, when my 3 year old stands on his chair and leans on it, is it going to fold up and trap him in a melamine and full English sandwich.

Can anyone help ?

I've also been looking for a folding table, just found these on the woolworths website - they seem good value at half price.

I think that you'll find the Argos one is very shoogly.  We had one of a similar design a few years ago, and binned it after one too many carefully prepared dinners slid into the mud after one of us nudged the table by accident.  Also, when trying to eat on it, the plates leapt around.  As one person tried to cut meat, the others' dinners were whizzing all over the place.  It felt like being on a small tug boat in an ocean gale.  Not recommended.

The other table on your link page - the aluminium slatted table - is a much more robust design, and would cope with your three year old attacking it with his Bob the Builder toolset.  But, it is much more expensive, and probably much heavier.

Hope this helps.

I've been looking at that argos table as well - we do have the white table from there which was about £10 and is perfectly fine but are thinking of getting another table.

I'ii keep an eye on your replys

Hi Carl,

I'm far from an expert on this type of thing as I have only just started going camping.  I have also been looking for one of these tables and found one in Focus for £7.99 but unfortunately, they were sold out.  Unsure about the quality compared to the ones above tho.

Sorry Carl, just saw your post.

Yes we had one, it's not a bad table but we didn't pay £20. At a tenner it was worth it. Unfortunately the central hinge succombed to someone's drunken wife leaning part of her anatomy on it......

Do you want it for eating or as a food prep table etc...or both?

Nick

Focus have a £8.99 table. We like our two.

Going to add a shelf hanging down and will make an excellent kitchen table at al fthe price of ready made ones.

Thanks guys, but Argos just made my mind up for me - It's not on offer anymore and at a fiver more, the aluminium slotted one looks better value. Gona have a look in Focus as well though.

Also, off down to the local camp shop to give their tables and chairs the fat bloke test ;-) They must hate me down there, I've been in loads of times testing stuff, but then try to buy online to save money. Might splash out on 10 ground sheet pegs this time though, at £1.50 can't see anyone beating that price.

We got two of them from Asda. Good value and no complaints. The same table is out there with other companies for a fair few quid more.

Had a look at the red ones in woolies yesterday. They look almost the same as the £8.99 ones in Focus. Unfortunately, the last one in my local Focus was on display about 30 foot in the air and the young store assistant I found wasn't fully trained in   the use of stepladders, so it's still there.

Interestingly, the one in Focus has little rubber feet to help the table stay upright, but I think I prefer the Asda style one, as it looks more stable.

Found this one online also: http://www.worldofcamping.co.uk/shop/Detail.asp?ProductID=895 Looks quite good value and I do remember reading on another thread that adjustable legs are a must on some sloping sites.

It's getting so hard to decide now, we might just sit on the floor and eat.
