Hello, 

I am confused by Campingaz and calor gas and whether you can use a campingaz cooker and regulator with a calor gas cylinder? This may be a really stupid question!?!

It's not a stupid question as Camping Gaz go to great care with their marketing to give you the impression you need to buy their gas bottles.

Which, of course, you don't.  Any gas bottle with the right regulator will do the job.

Not just Calor, but you can buy "Shell Gas" in big, no-deposit, bottles from Shell service stations and you can even buy bottles that you can charge up yourself from garages that sell LPG for cars.

As long as you have the regulator that matches the bottle, you're fine.

OK I'm really getting confused now!

Does the 904 & 907 sizes refer only to camping gaz bottles or can I get a calor 907 and if not what is the equivalent?

My local dealer is advertising 907 bottles "without deposit" whcih seems a good deal as I cannot get hold of a freebie!

904 and 907 are only for Camping Gaz.   Smallest Calor I have seen is the ones that hold 4.5kg of gas, which is more than a 907 holds.

The deal with your local place sounds good, how much do they charge?

Our local place charges about £49 for a new cylinder, and £17 for a refill.

You will need Camping Gaz if you ever go abroad.

A 907 hold 2.7Kg of gas (I think).

Our local Shell garage sells "Shell Gas" in 13Kg bottles (no deposit) for about £15. (Though obviously they take up more space in the car.)
