Tesco have a "Folding Charcoal BBQ" for £15 at the moment. Anyone know if this is any good and in particular whether it packs down small enough for transporting?
Try the larger B&Q. Sturdy, rectangular, blue or yellow, you dont have to get down on the ground to use it(I am showing my age), £18. Thats the BBQ not B & Q!!
Just be carefull if you get the folding one from "I want one of those". Their instructions, although stating do not use on flamablel surface", show it being used on a wooden patio table!!
I used the quick light charcoal in it and it burnt the grass underneath.
IWOOT sent me the manufacturer's certification ect. Good folding BBQ, just put something underneath.
Thanks for the replys. We do need it to be quite portable - the IWOOT one looks great although I'm not sure if it burns the grass - that was one of the reasons not to use disposables. What do you put underneath? Would it burn an aluminium kitchen stand?
Oh dear, can see other tempting things on the IWOOT site - love the firesteel...
We got the standard tesco barby and we take a screwdriver - cost £8 I think, packs back into the box it comes in which isn't much bigger than a portable bbq and it has a windshield.
we used the throw away bbq at the weekend and just put it on some bricks it was fine.
i like the IWOOT bbq's i'm sure that could stand on some bricks. i have noticed a few campsite supplies bricks for your bbq
There are those tiny bucket barbecues that may be quite good... You actually do not need a massive barbecue... a tiny barbecue actually works very well... charcoal holds its heat for so long.
If anybody lives close enough to Shrewsbury to pick it up and wants one like in the Tesco link above, make me an offer because I have one that we no longer need. I'm not talking about a very big offer either It's just taking up space. It's a couple of years old I have to say.
I'm shooting myself in the foot here but I bought it thinking it would be great to just pop in the car boot and have barbies in nice places. Frankly it's too messy. I'm way too lazy for the clean up job that is required before it could ever be packed back into the car - but if that doesn't phaze you....... it's there for the asking.
Last July I spotted some fold up gas barbies at Aldi, hummed and hawed a bit but bought one and have never regretted it. It's bigger (when folded, about suitcase size with wheels and handle), more expensive (£79.95) but far, far less mess and way more versatile - other than barbequeing we've used it for everything from cooking pasta to making the best toast I've ever had. My gallery has a pic of my OH standing in front of it. They'll probably do them again this year so watch out if you're interested.
