after reading many threads on here re EHU for our caravan, I am a bit scared to say the least. I was going to buy one from ebay-but now maybe i wont bother. Where would u advise i buy one from? Obviously like most ppl i have only a small budget, but what price safety eh? therefore i would rather spend a bit more if i know it is safe. OH has a friend who is a sparky and has offered to make us one for £50. Can good, proper, safe ones be bought anywhere for cheaper than this. Thanks for your help x p_p x

I bought a triple one from Towsure for £50.  It is a specific camping one so meets all proper safety standards.   Sunnncamp also do one for about the same price.   When I was looking £50 seemed about standard for the proper ones.

There was a thread recently someone mentioned that some sites check your EHU before you can use it.

So there it is

Hi,

I just got mine from camping online website for £49.99 and im well please!

They have 3 differant types i choose the one with horazontal sockets as the others look like the cables from one plug will get in the way of pluging in the next one!

comes in a strong case aswell

go get one

If you have a caravan that already has sockets etc in it,  (which if I remember correctly you do)  then you only need a hook up cable.  One end plugs into the bollard, the other into the fitting on the side of the van.   What the others above are talking about is a Tent EHU.

Any caravan dealer will sell them.  I'm surprised you did not get one with your caravan.   All new vans have come with them for ages now, so there is no need for people not to sell them with the van.  Get a 25m one.  They cost about £20 or less ready made, possibly less if your friend will make one. You only need the socket, the plug and the cable.

P.S.  put which van you have in your profile so people can advise you better.

Got mine from Towsure, it's a 20m Sunncamp model with RCD, MCB and three outlets. £43.95 - cheaper than eBay, and the post was only £4.95 (that's with a load of other stuff too).

Me = well happy.

(ps, just checked the CampingOnline one is the same model but costs a quid more). And their shipping is 5p more.

:)
