How big are your drawers? (sorry couldn't ask that any better ) we've bought drawers that are about 2 and a bit feet wide rather than the ones that are about a foor and a bit wide and I was thinking about swapping the bigger drawers for smaller drawers and creating a work surface?

Yes ours are the smaller sized ones. I have looked at the wider ones for keeping clothes in ... but even our 8 seater people carrier is struggling for capacity!

We keep one set of the smaller drawers permanently in the car anyway - drawer for tools/spare parts etc, drawer for first aid kit, bigger drawer for pinic stuff / snacks and the other one for other bits and pieces such as a few toys and games.

The other set is permanently set up with the more usual camping stuff and stays in the garage till we need it.

i used collapsible stackable boxes this year from wilkinsons but they were a bit flimsy.

However I did find a big thermos coolbag very useful for keeping all my foodstuffs (bread cereals and the like) together and out of the way of insects and the weather.

We used a picnic set in bag for plates, cups, cutlrey etc. Collapsable boxes with rubber car mats under for the food and a coolbag with ice blocks and bags of party ice for the cool stufff. Those hessian bags for other stuff and pots and pans in an M&S green shopper with handles. I had a couple of waterproof bags for shower bags too.

We managed fine without any shelves at all.

We have the camping kitchen from Argos with the shelves in and all the pots, pans, cutlery etc go in there. I have a large aluminium table that goes into the porch, and I used folding crates underneath it to put the tins and foodstuff in. On the top of the table I put the Lidl oven, the toaster and other bits and bobs such s the tea, coffee and sugar. We also keep the electric coolbox in the porch. I use another collapsable crate for shoes etc and a pop up laundry basket for dirty clothes.

So far we haven`t had any visitors nibbling on our foodstuff, even though I do keep packets of pasta, crisps and biscuits etc in the crates in the porch with no lid on.

i take it you haven't been to the new forest yet ?  Any food not securely packed away, even if it is rght in the middle of your tent, gets eaten by horses! They even chew their way through the tent to get to it! It is lovely but the horses (who were there first of course!) do get a bit exhausting after a while.

Last week we were surrounded by rabbit holes and rabbit poo (but no ehu) and there were a few ants around so i tried to make sure that there was nothing to attract them.

it is the thing i like least about camping.
