ok so we can now get carpets for our monty6 but do we really need one?
has anyone got carpet in the tent? i assume it is like a luxury mat of somesort since it is machine washable. how thick are they? do they really make a difference?
Not had a close look, but seem like a big picnic blanket to me, i would hope the backing is made of something decent as there not that cheap.

yes the price is stopping me at the momnet from getting one. we normally just put down 2 of the picnic blankets but the slip around alot witht he 3 boys in and out
We've got one for the Vermont L and think it's very good quality, more of a velour feel and because it's more or less a fitted carpet theres not problem with it shifting under you feet. Would say the thickness is more or less the same as a picnic blanket. It has a PVC backing. But with the colour design it just makes the inside look a whole lot better. Plus the usual bits about insulation, stopping the SIG blowing etc...

the wife and i argued over wheter to get one or not, having now purchased and used it i think it was a good buy, it fits snug so sliding about on picnic rugs and it does make the tent feel a lot warmer.
We were given a breathable Groundsheet, which yes we use on it own when its completely dry but it makes an excellent carpet ontop of our PVC groundsheet. Its very warm and slightly padded to walk on. Its also adds to the insulation.
I dont know the cost of tent carpet and breathable Groundsheets are expensive but thought I would mention it as an alternative, perhaps someone on here in the know could compare prices.
We got the carpet for our XXL as we can use it in the Monty as well. We love it and it certainly seems to keep the tent warmer and cosier. It also puts paid to the camping mats slipping round and needing constantly being put back in place.
Have the carpet for our montana 6 and if you look at the articles on this website I wrote a published piece on the carpet which you might find of interest. Indeed its great at cutting the dampness down as well as being a lot nicer on the foot. Very easy to clean to. You can pick one up for under £50
Here's an idea - buy a cheap rug. One of those gabbehs which are thick deep wool. Warm, soft, heavy so no slipping. We have quite a few in our house and I reckon we'll be taking one with us this year.
I have an Outwell carpet in my Cabanon tent, it feels nice under foot and helps protect the expensive zig.
I also have a large mat, the rubber backed dirt control type you see in shop entrances, its 1.5m x 1m and I use that just inside the doorway of the tent and have a couple of the rubber hole mats for outside the tent.
