With funds too short to go away this weekend, I got to watching the shopping channels on TV (sad soul that I am). They are advertising a halogen oven that does everything, including wash itself up!. Has anyone tried using one for camping or is it likely to blow up my electric hook up? At the mo I take a slow cooker with us, but pizza in a slow cooket doesnt really work!
Thanks in advance.

We have something similar, except it is much older and pre halogen, ours uses an element and a fan to cook the food, it takes 1200 watts and we used to take it away camping when we had our trailer tent and were using EHU. It was/ is great, not just for pizza,s but anything you can cook in the oven i.e oven chips, pies, pasties, roasts, cakes all sorts. They are quite heavy but great to use.
We have the same as Tina, we tried the halogen one from JML but the heat source stopped working after about eight months. Returned it but post office lost parcel. We bought a Prima Superchef about a year ago it's great hardly ever use our large oven now. The bonus is they are so easy to clean.
Have you tried a Ramoska? They are excellent. You can get one from Lakeland ( Kitchen stuff.) You can bake, ( if so inclined!!) heat pizzas, quiche, pies, cook stews, heat soup, bake spuds and much more. Get large size. Light to carry. Comes with stand and recipies . A really great buy as we also use it at home rather than heat oven for Pizza etc.
Thanks everyone. That has been really helpful and you have saved me wasting mega bucks on a JML one. Definately gonna get something I can do things in other than slow cooking though. I dont cook much when away but my lot do like a change!
Thanks again.

Hi Pauline. Have looked into an even better gadget than the Ramoska . It is the Bravoska...I Think thats how it is spelt. Try it in google. It is Brill! You can fry in the lid and use whole pan with lid on to bake, roast, cook. It is much more muliti use and I think is a wee bit cheaper than the one I first suggested. Wish it had been out when I got my Ramoska which probably inspired this new one.
If you aren't looking to cook a Sunday roast for a large family then try one of the mini ovens from Poundstretcher, Wilkinsons etc, cost about 12 squid. We have used ours for pies, pizza slices, oven chips, frozen meals etc. They are light to carry and compact and you can use them as a toaster as well.

Please dont talk about toast, I am the world's worst! We have got to the stage now where my OH is so used to burnt toast that he has actually said he prefers it! Could just be he has forgotten how the other kind tastes.

Know how he feels. My OH sits in front of grill watching toast to get it right. As he is 6'3" tall and has just had his second new hip ( it is magic and he is better than for years) he finds it a bit difficult to bend in the confined space so has to watch from the seats. So we now take a electric wee toaster I got in Argos.No9 more burnt toast. He never caravaned before we met so is still learning .....!! ( second time round for both). I have caravaned with my ex and kids since 1970's and do all towing. Have managed up to now not to have to reverse but am learning this year...at last decided I was no longer young enough to entce help from opp sex and as Jim cannot do it so someone has...he says. ...Watch out BUT please do not collapse laughing if you see a white Toyota van and a Lunar caravan meandering across a field backwards with no apparent aim.I trechnically know how to do it but in practice in does not always work....
