can you go to a shop and try some(daft i know) but we have three pairs and i can only use two because the big ones dont close together enough for me to see through
I bought a pair of Nikon Travelites from www.warehouseexpress.com last year. should have been £200 got then for £80. The service was good and delivery very quick. Just look at special offers. ie. end of lines due to newer models coming out, these tend to be heavily discounted.
I wasted quite a bit buying binoculars without trying them..took me ages to learn!!
You could always go to your nearest Jessops or similar,, try some, find the best ones for you and then see if you can find them cheaper on the internet

I'm not a complete idiot...some bits are missing.
Also give Kay Optical a go. I've had some very good second hand binos from them in the past. They are also very good for servicing telescopes and binos
I would also add try them first. My Oh and I have binoculars made by the same company and almost the same model, I love mine but cannot use his. I think the field of view is wider on mine and that plus folding eye caps are essential if like me you wear glasses. If you are going to use them a bit it is worth investing in the best ones you can afford, they will last a life time.
If you go to a camera shop (somewhere like Jessops or London Camera exchange etc) you should be able to try them out. If there is an RSPB reserve with a shop near you, they'd probably have them too.
Theres a great shop in Castleton and the staff are very helpful.
They let me take several pairs outside to try unacompanied even though the shop was packed.
You definitely need to try them before you buy.
