Hi guys we are picking our new van up on Friday (well new for us but second hand).  The dealer has offered my husband two gas bottles for £25 at 5kg each part full.  Is this a good deal? I have no idea where to get them from or what the average cost is to fill them up and where you can fill them up?

Can any one help is that a good deal?

It would depend on the make! If they are Calor then go for it. Some of the other brands though "loan" you a free bottle anyway so they wouldn't be worth it.

As to refilling, Calor is very easy - most caravan shops, many garages, etc. Camping Gaz (not common on caravans) isn't too dificult - but the only one you can get throughout Europe.

BP Gaslight is becoming more common. BP garages obviously stock it, as do Homebase.

Other brands are variable. Some are very localised in their supply.

And you'll only pay a £5 at the tip or car boot so you'll have full ones a bit cheaper than the dealers.

I recently changed a 4.5 for a 7 at no extra cost other than the 7kg of gas. (bottles are often on ebay for a couple of quid a piece if they are local enough to make collection viable)
