Mrs Onki has recently bought a EZetil EZ 4000 cooler (although it has been branded as a Royal 3 way cooler).
We have it running on 240v at the moment and it has cooled down inside okay but I have noticed that the small fan (looks exactly like a computer cooling fan)at the back never appears to run. I haven't tried the thing on gas or 12v yet so can't say if it remains inactive in those situations.
Can anyone tell me if it should normally run? also is it normal for these coolers to put out a fair amount of heat at the back?
Many thanks for any advise.
Onki
Thanks Peridot, that's reassuring. I have now got it fired up on gas and still no movement in the fan, so I'm guessing it's just there in case the workings get too hot...unless anyone knows differently. Interestingly some literature on their website refers to the cooler as fanless for silent operation.

Sounds a reasonable assumption. Funnily enough I had wondered whether adding a small fan to the back of my Combicool would improve it's efficiency. I might give it a go.
I think the fan your talking about is the 12v one?? should start going when you plug it into lighter socket since the power from your car battery couldn't power the unit on its own it rather keeps the temp inside the fridge cool using this.
Peridot: Right ho (grabs screwdriver and tin opener)
oookay, so it's back together, now where do all the spare bits go?
actually I simply took a peek through the ventilation slots on the rear to check the fan details - as follows: Power Logic DC brushless fan: model PL81S12H: DC12v 0.16A. Unable to make out where the wires go to.
Campmark: yes you're correct, plugged into the car and sure enough the fan is in motion.
most probably the heating element isnt as efficent on 12V, so need the fan to run to help it cool, alternativly it uses a different type of cooling system on 12V similar to the mini coolers etc.
