We have just got a camping gaz 907 cylinder to go with our new cooker. Tried it out at the weekend just to make sure the cooker worked!

Now we have never had this type of cooker or cylinder before but we presumed we could disconnect the regulator for travelling etc however when we did there was a disting smell of gas and when I checked with soapy water the bottle seems to be leaking slightly. Surely this isn't right? OH immediately put regulator back on now I'm not sure what to do.

Should I take the cylinder bakc to where I got it or shouldn't we have taken the regulator off in the first place?

Hepl please

The regulator is designed to be attached/ unattached regularly. The seal on the top of the gas bottle shouldn't leak just because you have taken the regulator off.
If you can, take it back to where you got it and tell them that it leaks, and they should take it off your hands and exchange it.

These valves can occasionally leak, but if you depress the valve slightly then release it, or alternatively replace the regulator then remove it again, the valve should seal satisfactorily.

Hi there!

I recently swapped from Calor (too bulky and heavy) to Camping Gaz (907 cylinder).

Mine came with an integral cap come carry handle fitted to the top of the cylinder to enable you to easily lug it about, and so I thought they all came with this nifty little attachment to effectively seal off the valve when the regulator was not in place.

I would ask about this when you take the bottle back, which I would do pronto !

p.s. Look at my gallery shots to see the bottle if you are not sure what it looks like.
