We've just got a new ipod nano, but want to be able to use it when we go away, can anyone recommend some speakers (without breaking the bank) and are there any which charge the ipod at the same time (as won't be taking the computer with us to charge it!!) and thought we might not have to buy a separate charger???

Tks

don't know anything about dedicated speakers syatems, but i've just bought a belkin tunecast off amazon.  £20 and will transmit your i-pod to any fm stereo, so if you already have a cd/radio player you can use it, or use it in the car.  includes cale to re-charge from car cigarette lighter.

we got a belkin in our car. Does the job perfect and no wires etc to worry about, just tune it into a radio frequency and bingo i-pod thru your radio

My son has these intempo ones and is very happy with them. The nano charges as it sits in the dock. I would't call it hi-fi, and anything this small is not big on base, but it is surprisingly good for the size.

The other thing we have is a Denion lead that plugs an iPod into the car. Wires into the back of the radio unit just like a CD changer, and we threaded the other end into the glove compartment (which is cooled in the Passat!) so the iPod is never visible. It has a couple of little glitches, like if you don't switch the music off before taking the keys out it keeps playing silently and oyu come back way down the playlist, and when you start up you have to toggle to radio and then back to the iPod to make it pick up the sound, but these are small enough quirks to live with for the overall convenience!

There are many many different types of ipod speakers for sale on Amazon. So how about these for £22.24 ! These should fit the bill for a modest price,

See ipod speaker

Ignore the first bad review the other 17 are all 5 star. I have a set and they are good, not as good as the £80-100 Altec Lansing In Motion series which I also have. But for £22 and free delivery for going camping they cant be beat !

I got my ipod speakers from Tesco for £4.99, showed them to some friends and now we all have them.  However they don't charge the ipod, the speakers can be battery or mains operated, I found an old Nokia charger which works ok as an adaptor for the speakers.

Ive got logitec MM50 speakers http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-mm50-Portable-Speakers-iPod/dp/B000BF0EQY.  They are really good and charge your IPOD also, and themselves run for 7 hours on lithium internal battery which charges when plugged into electric.  They are about £60.

I have an FM transmitter for the i-Pod in the 'van - it charges as well as transmitting to the 'van's stereo, so no hassle.  At home, we have a Bose dock of the i-Pod .... but you did say you didn't want to break the bank (fantastic sound though)!!!!
