When I unpacked it, it was a bit bewildering as to what kind of gas I need, or even if I need a regulator, like I have on the BBQ. Any ideas, as the peeps in Halfords sounded baffled when I rang them!
Cheers.

You can lead a horse to water, but I'm off to the pub!
The cooker will run on butane or propane, i would suggest butane, if your camping predominantly in europe camping gaz 907 is more readily available but if your camping mainly in this country, calor gas is cheaper and easier to source, i would suggest the 4.5 Kg bottle for camping and you will need a regulator for it, the RRP for calor gas butane 4.5 Kg is £11-75 but without an empty bottle to trade in you will be asked to pay a deposit on the bottle, about £20 i think, see if you can get hold of an empty bottle from your local tip or local free ads, any size will do as you can change sizes when you trade it in
How long should a 907 canister last - I ask because ours recently only lasted a trip of 4 nights and yes we were cooking for 7 people but only one of the breakfasts was cooked so it was the evening meals mainly
Am I doing something wrong (we did turn the gas off after use each time) or is this about right
Not sure of the definative answer to that concerning burn time but i would expect it to last longer then that, we used a 907 for a ten day trip and cooked breakfast and dinner on it every day, as well as copious cups of tea, i reckon we used about half the bottle, are you sure it was full when you started, and yes, just in case you have a small leak you should really turn off at the bottle when not in use
Just as an afterthought, you refer to "907 canister" rather then bottle, you are referring to one of these i take it
and clearly I am not getting the same usage - do dodgy suppliers exist, perhaps I need to switch supplier ? I will try one more from them first and then see where I stand
You could try weighing the bottle, the weight of the gas should be 2.7 Kg and the empty bottle about 3.5 Kg, so a full one would weigh around 6.2 Kg, (the weight of the bottle is stamped on it somewhere )
then at least I will know if I am being robbed, if not (which is likely) then its down to us wasting it somewhow (unless the wife has developed some weird gas sniffing habit ?)
