I have been searching this forum and they all say that the fan heaters are the best ones to go for as they dont cause condensation in the tent. whereas the gas ones do. ( i would never have thought of that !!!!)
Oh well me and hubby were having this discussion re fan heater and also halogen ones but I too wouldnt have thought fan heaters either maybe thats what we will go for then.
I,ve just been on my 1st camping trip and followed the advice and took the fan heater and it worked a treat no condensation so i'd recommend the £10 fan heater ovr a £30-£80 one
I have tried gas, parafin, and 240 v over the years in a big tent and found that (A) Gas heaters do form alot of condensation and (B) cannot be left on all night.
Parafin heaters are well out of date now, but were economicle, and had a safety factor that if they were knockeed the flame was extinguished, but if not trimmed properly they stank.Where as most 240 heaters have a thermostat and switch themselves off and are much safer i think

invest in a Cobb, and you get the best camping oven going ,plus a central heated tent,We were at shell island for 2 weeks in the cold weather we kept it topped up with coals, and we were as snug as anything
We started in April with a Halogen heater, and whilst it mkes you lovely and warm when you sit directly in front of it (and gives of a lovely glow), it doesn't warm the tent much.
The fan heater we bought actually made us warm. I think becasue it changes the air it also helps create abuffer against cold air coming in...
Have just spent a week away in Cornwall with friends who bought the three bar electric patio heater from Woolworths. It is a great piece of kit on a stand that extends to 2m in height and has three heat bars. It has just been reduced to £29.99 which sounds expensive but it was geat in the tent to take the chill off using 1 bar and when we were sitting out in the day tent it kept us warm until the early hours. I will be ordering one olnine.

We use a very small fan heater that I bought in somerfield a year ago for about £20, I got it so we could use it as a fan when it's hot as well as a heater. It gives us peace of mind as it has a thermal cut out only problem is you can't have anything else on with it but I wouldn't trade it for anything we have also tried halogen and gas and in my experience this beats them all.
My mum uses one in her conservatory and swears by it.
We are mostly hooke dup to EHU in the tent and have a wee electric fan heater but put on a timer plug into the EHU and set it to come on every hour for 10 mins or so, works great for us in the Khyam.
In the Vango, it gets left on all night on setting 1, keeps the tent snug as a bug ina rug!!
If we didn't have EHU, I would be asking the same question.... is a Black cat any good?
