Sorry for being a complete newby, but what is a delta peg and do i need them?

On the downside, the ones that are made of plastic, bend 'orribly in stoney ground and then you have to use metal ones. Unfortunately you will probably be like me and not realise how bad the ground is, until you have bent your expensive delta pegs.

We have now switched over to Wurmi Screw In Pegs. Not so likely to damage them and a lot easier to put in and screw out.

I bought some deltas for my guyful (as on it has many guys (17)) tent. I bought 16 (they are sold in 4's or 8's) cost around £40 but I though tent cost me £250 so its a small price to pay for the reasurance of exceptional pegs.

Definatly worth buying some rock pegs it makes things so much quicker to peg down in stony ground as alot of suff it can just bash straight through (especially if you use a hammer), also they don't need sraightening out once you have finished with them!!

Those rock pegs are just ordinary nails with a plastic bit to hook your guy line onto. If you hammer them into really hard ground they won't come out - the plastic bit breaks up, and you'll end up hammering them right into the ground and leaving them behind.

Real rock pegs are made of "T" section drawn steel of about 3mm section, and are rather expensive. Some have a welded ring, others a steel cross pin, so removal should not be a problem.

SHOCK HORROR

We actually had a Delta pull out of the ground in some serious rain and wind down Cornwall week before last. The strap just pulled it through the soil, admittedly the ground did have the consistendy of porridge. It has not put me off them though, they are the dogs doo dahs.
