Hi there,

I am joining the ranks of campers for the first time in 20 years!  Can you give me some advice on which light to get which is powerful enough to light up a Kyram Excelsior for a couple of nights?  Do you suggest buying battery powered, LED, kypton, there are so many which is the best?

Await to hear from anyone out there, I need your help!!!

I have just bought a couple of these.
Cheap, bright, light, last the longest and only take AAs. So stick in some 2500 re-chargables and they will last forever... oh, and they look cool too.

Take a solar light from the garden as well. Makes a great night light when brought back into the tent at night.

Are the ones in morrisons the same as that one on ebay? UFO style?

Do you think one of these will be bright enough to light up the living area of a wynnster corvus 8?

The Morrisons lights are fantastic. Can't believe how much light they give off. Definitely worth £3!!!! We bought 2 but will try to buy another one if they have any left as a spare. Take up much less room than any other light of similar brightness. About the size of a CD by about an inch thickness. Comes with a hanger.

Go for LED lighting, they use very little power. I run about 10 LED clusters each cluster has 20 ultra bright LEDS on it. 116 These light my six man tent and our Kyham utility tent. Power Consumption is only 170 ma so you can run about 6 of then and only draw 1Ah. You only need 1 or 2 in a large tent.  Light Output = 14 Watts (Standard light bulb Equiv) each. I wire them up to a 110Ah leisure battery vire my home made battery multibox (See gallery pic)  I use a 110Ah leisure battery to power all my 12 volt electrics. I also use solar panels to top up the leisure battery when camping for more than ten days. My fridge/freezer only draws half an Ah when its at the set temperature.. (Waeco coolfreeze 25)

Good quality LEDs are not cheap but use far less power and last for years. eg burn life of LEDs is about 100,0000 hours. If left on continuously thats about 4 years of 24/7 lighting= wow. Or about a lifetime of real use like camping.

Look here for many more LED lights   ULTRALEDS

LED's are the future of lighting..
