I camped on my own with 2 little ones at the weekend and the toilets were quite away from the camping field. So our bucket with lid ended up getting used more than just for night time wees (the girls are still at an age where when they need to go, they need to go), so a quick dash into the tent was preferable to an accident on the way to the loos.
So I'm thinking about getting a porti potti and my question is to those that have one, do you use it even on sites with facilities, or it is saved for when camping on sites with no facilities?
We use ours all the time. We often rally, so it's used for everything then. When there are facilities, it tends to be only used for wees, unless it would be really inconvenient to go to the site facilities. I empty the loo, by the way, and it's really simple to do and not nearly as unpleasant as some people think.
I would recommend one.. Its simple to use (no pun intended lol!) and empty. You dont have to empty very often and it doesnt smell at all (except of nice chemical smell).
Porta potti best bit of equipment use it when you want for what you want. It also gives you the freedom to go to any site or rallies regardless of what facilities they have or don't have. No issues with key toilet blocks or closed for cleaning . We got ours for going to a rally but now will not go without it. Once you have bought it, use it.
------------- Yesterday is already a dream and tomorrow is only a vision, but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
We had a porta poti in our last van with no cassette loo. We've got 4 kids and often a granny with us and it got used ALL the time for both jobs lol. It never smelt and was'nt a chore to empty.
Now we've got a new van with cassette loo and its like we've died and gone to caravan heaven!!
