Andy

It will very much depend on what you are using the leisure battery for. If you always use sites that have electrics and you don't have a motor mover then 85 amp hour will be fine. However if you tend to use sites without electrics then I would have thought the 110 amp hour would be the best choice especially if you want to run a TV. Likewise if you have a motor mover on the van its useful, but not essential, to have a large battery.

I use a 110Ah leisure battery just for tenting. (a six man tent and a utility tent) It runs my Waeco coolfreeze 25 fridge/freezer and all my LED lighting, the 10.4" LCD tv, + dvd player, radio, Kids games, and it charges all my small batteries used in LED torches and cameras. It gets topped up as i go with two small solar panels..  Never used EHU.

Yes thats a multi battery box i made. it connects to my 110Ah leisure battery. It has five 12 volt cigarette sockets and a jack plug that does 3/6/9 volt for other things, and a cigarette plug to plug into any 12 volt output eg cigarette lighter socket in your car, if you don't need the leisure battery at the time. It runs all my camping needs. It also holds all my 12 volt LED lighting inside ready to plug in.. all wired up with a cigarette plug on them..

Use LED cluster lighting as they use very little power. i use these caravan or boat LEDs for the tents, very bright with very low power consumption..

116 12 VDC 20 Wide angle White Leds 3.5 Lumins Per Led 70 in total. Power Consumption 170 ma.. so you can use six and only draw 1Ah and you only need two really. I use about ten in a six man tent and a Kyham screenhouse utility tent. buy them from 70  look in  caravans and boats part

Hello Delta9. Two questions for you. 1. Where did you get the 12v control box from. 2. What type of Solar panals do you use and where can I get these. What size would I need to charge an 85Ah leisure battery, sorry that's three questions.

May the power be with you.

We use an 85AHr and we use a mover.  We also have a spare 110 AHr.  If I was getting another battery the one I would go for is a 100AHr that one firm makes which is the same size as an 85 AHR.

I went for an 86 amp leisure battery mainly because of the size and weight.

My 86amp battery is approx 9 kilo lighter than my old 110amp battery.

I have movers fitted and so far the 86amp has worked fine.

I recently bought a new 110 amp battery and it's surprising how they vary in size. My battery compartment is very small but we managed to find out that fitted.

I had 85 amp before and it was fine with the mover but then I charge it while towing and always have hookup and charge it on site for coming home. When the 85 amp finally packed up I thought it was worth getting the extra bit of power for not much more outlay.

Its not so much power that you get with a larger battery but more capacity.
