Are Tesco still doing the heat beads. Went into my local and none on show. Can you get them elsewhere?

thanks for all your comments and tips.

i think i will enjoy learning the different ways to use it.  I hope the recipe book gives me some pointers too!

Where can i get Heat Beads - are they reusable? Whats the difference between them and normal ones? I think I have half a bag of normal briquettes in the garage from before we got a gas bbq for home - so i'll test out with those.

you can get them from Homebase or the Range .Or supergreenthumb online

Should be delivered tomorrow - so fingers crossed i can test it out wed/thur or fri!

About lifting the lid - i presume you only use the lid when using it like an oven?  If you want to use the griddle - you don't use the lid?

yes your right here . use the lid like an oven and resist the temptation too lift too much . i use 9 heatbeads for a beef joint and cook for about 2-3 hours. Also cider int the moat while cooking pork

we also use cider when cooking pork - Guinness goes well when cooking lamb

hi

my cobb has arrived and i have cooked my first meal on it - very impressed - did chicken pieces and new pots!  (both as per book)  tomorrow going to attempt meatballs on it.  Looking forward to taking it camping!!

to the person who posted the picture in a bin - come on - everyone is entitled in this world to do what they want to do - some people want to cook fast and some people want to take their time and spread it over a couple of hours in the evening .. so live and let live :)  I appreciate its not the fastest thing - but isn't that the point!!!  wouldn't it be a boring world if we were all the same!

If you don't like it I'll take it off your hands and I won't even charge you for the privelage.

I love my Cobb. Makes quite a partner with a Coleman Dual Fuel stove.

take no notice off the cobb in the bin.it been a running joke on UKCS for years and will come up time and time again especially with cadac owners.Heat beads burn slowly, longer than 3 hours  and crumble to ash. if your only doing quick stuff like garlic bread, take the hot bricks out the cobb when finished with (unless its a cold night and you want to take the chill off and put them in to a metal tub with cold water in. wait for it to cool down , and let dry them off. These bits you use again.Did you let the pizza defrost? All food must be defrosted befor you put it on the cobb. mind you you dont have to worry about keeping it chilled
