My first camping experience with bf and kids last year was a disaster.  On 2 breaks, i managed to burn my brand new montana 12 twice (one each holiday).

On my first holiday, on day 2, I decided to cook a pan of sausages on a little single gas burner inside the tent (it was raining outside) - sausages started spitting, tried to take burner out, and pan fell onto my sig - JOY!!!

On my second holiday, my lovely new bbq from Go Outdoors (which is the slowest piece of cooking equipment EVER) took sooooooo long to cook it was pitch black outside by the time i was done, so i went inside my holey! tent, took the gas burning light inside put it onto my table and burnt the mesh that covered the window!!!  Deep Joy!!!  (it was a bad design of a tent -for us anyway, no living space(got to move chairs tables in order to get into bedrooms!!)

Insurance covered the tent and got a refund for the Monty 12 (lost £100 tho)... So today, we bought a Vango Vail 700, the BBQ is banished to the shed, so now need to find a cooker and stand...

Went to Go outdoors, i know i need a windshield, (experience from the BBQ) so do i go for the Easycamp Kitchen table £25.00 OR                                                                                                                     the Gelart collapsable 3 tier kitchen with windshield £19.00.....AND The Sungass Grill Master £50.00 or the Sungass little chef burner and grill..... Or then there is the Camping Gaz selection!!! ARGGGHHHHH!!!!

Can someone help a novice please???? (Altho i am learning)....

Took a long time deciding on the kitchen table as trying to find one I thought was stable and sturdy enough (have a 2 and a half year old!).  This one ticked all the boxes!

P.S. Also have a Vail 700!

Hiya, thankyou all for the replies, think the mind is made up about the table, still thinking about the utility tent as i'm not sure how much of the pitch my new vango vail tent will take on the pich - did i mention i have just bought the new vango vail - i'm only a little excited!!!!  So, stilll confused about which cooker... (corpogreen, hear what you're saying, but won't have time to get there before we go on Saturday....will make sure we pop there to check it out on our return tho, no doubt with another list of things that we forgot this time)...

Do you have any advice on which cooker to go on the table that was suggested earlier???

Bottom line? No gas lamps, cookers  or naked flames in tent, ever. Then you can`t melt holes in your tent...well, you can, but you have to work a little harder with electrical stuff.

Also...tents are highly flammable, and to be honest you`re rather lucky you didn`t set your tent on fire. This would not be a good thing, especially  if there`s anyone inside the tent at the time....your kids for example? It will only take about one minute for the tent to be fully ablaze, remember, and getting out of a SIG tent that fast requires a knife blade.

If you`re accident prone, best get a utility tent.

I use a spatter guard from the pound shop on my frying pan, wouldn't be without it, prevents any splashes on the tent.

Trust me, i've learnt from my mistakes... No more cooking indoors!!!

But which cooker do i buy?? i need some serious advice, they all look the same to me, I want quality, but not too expensive, enought to cook everyone a bacon sarnie!!  Taking a toaster with me so grill isn't too important, but again, i'm flexible, if the best one has a grill then i'll get it....

Ps, will there be enough room on the pitch for a utility tent as well??

I'll stick my oar in and suggest a Coleman dual fuel stove (we have the three ring monster...couldn't afford a Porsche). We used to have the Campingaz one with the two rings and grill...and never used the grill. The overall cost of one of the larger Campingaz cookers will be circa £25-£45 plus the Large gas bottle (£40 -£50). It got to the point with us that we had run out of gas three times while cooking that we were thinking about having a secong bottle...that's nearly £150 tied up in a cooker. Gave up, flogged them to my sister in law and bought the monster (£89.99). now all we do is take a syphon and suck the fuel out of my wife's car when we arrive on site. A litre of unleaded will last us 3 - 4 days (family of 5) all meals, brews etc...

And no extra clutter of gas bottle(s)

Hello again... And sorry to be a pain, trying to get a balanced view!!! I've got a skoda diesel car, so how do i get the duel fuel then.. I not blessed in the brains dept so please bear with me???????????????????  Is the CG the best option then???
