You can check that 12V is at the socket on the side of the van by switching on a tap and using a meter across the 2 terminals (a 12V bulb with 2 wires attachd can be used if no meter is available
If no 12V check the pressure switch if fitted
Try more than one tap to rule out tap micro switches
You can test the Whale pump by applying 12V to the 2 side terminals on the plug from a car battery etc
A common fault with the Whale plug is where the crimp on terminals are attached inside the plug.
The wires are tinned (soldered) before the terminals are crimped on and I have seen some where corrosion of the solder causes a resistance and the pump won't work
This can be cured by soldering the 12V wires direct to the plug terminals or squeezing the crimps harder(soldering is better)
