We have an Outwell Montana 12 tent. We have only used it 3 times, but we never seem to get the folding quite right and we struggle to get it back into the bag.

Has anyone got any ideas how to fold these tents properly without getting a load of air in and so it fits back into the bag.

Many thanks.

Another vote for rolling on it.  Had six people rolling up and down on mine at the weekend it was hilarious and great fun.  Tent went in the bag first time with room to spare to!

We always keep a tape measure in the bag so when it's time to put the "beast" away you know what dimensions you have to aim for. Good luck.

Yep - the body roll's defo the answer. We've never had a prob getting it back in the bag. May7be you are folding it in half one way and then by the opposite way, which is not the answer. You keep folding it over one itslef til it's long and thin. What we do is leave the doors partially open to help let out trapped air (and to release the vacuum when you pitch it), fold it clean in half across the length, repeat and repeat again til it's just shy of 3 feet wide x the original tent's width. We then do a body roll along the full length of it to squeeze all the air out and roll it up into a big sausage, squishing the last bit of air out the end before shoving it back in the bag. The body roll's the best bit but only if you have a footprint groundsheet under your tent or else you end up with muck and squashed worms all over you! Go on, I dare you to try it - we've done it on every campsite we've been on, usually watched with great interest by others with sewn in groundsheets!

Our tent doesn't even have a SIG and I still ALWAYS end up cursing the ****ing zip on the bag.  But I suppose it helps that everything ends up squished as small as it possibly can be - otherwise we'd need a much bigger car.

I thought we had had the ingenious idea of using the kids to log roll, but it looks like every one else uses them too. I must add though we use the big one to roll first to squish all the air out then the smaller one for the finer rolling. If it is realy bad I send the hubby down first then the kids! He enjoys more than the kids
