Hi there, just wanted to warn people against the Urban Escape Junior sleeping bags from Halfords. We bought two for our kids to use on our camping holiday this summer, they are warm and snuggly and seemingly a good buy at £9.99. BUT one morning my 5-year-old woke up crying, the internal drawstring wrapped tightly around her neck! We had to cut her free and promptly also cut out the external drawstring. Fortunately she woke up in time and wasn't hurt, only shocked, but I dread to think what could have happened, especially as my 23-month-old was also sleeping in one of these.

I have written to Halfords and urged them to withdraw these sleeping bags from their stores, but so far haven't heard anything back.

When my kids upsized from the Vango Midi bags to the adult one, I did notice that there were drawstrings in the adult bags whereas the Midi ones had sewn-in elastic on the hoods. So I`m shocked to hear that Halfords use cords on their junior bags. Yes, complain, and perhaps report it to the Trading Standards Office as well?

(In the meantime, a bit of knicker elastic firmly sewn in at both ends works fine on sleeping bags for kids. That`s what I did to the adult bags the kids are using. )
