Looking for a new light for our tent(not EHU) experence in the past, not bright enough to read a book

any advice appreciated

I have always preferred gas lamps, extremely bright and safer than tilley lamps.  They also warm the tent up at night, but don't hang them from a synthetic tent.

I have used all types of lighting in the past 20+ years, I now take a 110Ah leisure battery and use Led lighting, You can't beat it, last forever, safe, no heat to burn or scorch your tent. I buy LED bulbs for boats or caravans and wire them up myself to simple switches. Buy LED bulbs or LED striplighting. They use much less power than anything else.

Easy to wire up and if you want switches built in, try the Halfords range of multi cigarette sockets.

I use the Leisure battery to run my Dab Radio, LCD Tv, DVD player and my Waeco coolfreeze 25 fridge/freezer.. NO UHU needed!!!

Although I'm a backpacker I have one of these for my 6-berth and it's superb, ample light and lasts well with a night light for the kids; not that I have any but that's not important!

Would like to give the petrol a bash one day though as swear by it for cooking.
