Just having got back into camping and talking the wife into it too. I have been thinking of getting a canopy and a carpet for the Montana 6 we have just purchased and the 3 of us used last week.
I can't see us camping again until next year as we have a 10 week old and it gets a bit chilly at night now, I'm wondering if the canopy and carpet are worth getting to make the tent more comfortable for when we do get out again next year.
An EHU is number one on my list for next year, feel I'm going a bit soft buying these items but if I can make it more comfy for us then why not, plus Mandy (the OH) will be up for camping more often.
Anyone have either of them and find them good or bad?
I have the carpet and front extention and would not be without either haven't got the canopy so can't comment on it.
The carpet really makes a huge difference to the warmth and feels snug and will be a wise investment as your baby grows and starts to move about on their own.
We use picnick plankets in our Monty6 and that seems to do us fine. They do offer a little more comfort in addition to the groundsheet. Earlier this year we bought the universal side canopy rather than the front canopy as it offered more side cover. We were quite surprised how big it is and it is certainly large enough for three of us to sit under at night. We also keep all our cooking gear under the canopy rather than cooking inside the tent. While in Cornwall we also sited our day tent next to the canopy so we could walk from Monty6 to the day tent under cover if it rained.

We have the carpet and the canopy and would not be without either. We went the day tent route after seeing the front extension and glad we did. The front extension will be part of the range for 2008 so if you want one should be no problem in obtaining one. But for 2008 there is also a new side extension available that will fit the montana, hugs the side of the tent with no gaps and looks great.
Thanks for the replies, very helpful.
I do like the look of the front extension as it has sides which would be very helpful in bad weather, will be interested in seeing the side extension when it's out, any photo's of it anywhere?
Will get the carpet seems like the way to go, we also use picnic blankets at the moment which are good but the carpet has to be lots better, is the carpet easy to clean btw?
the price of EHU's will come down to about £50 now in the sales . i would get one now before they shoot up to £90 in next spring's season.i just throw my carpet over the washingline and brush it off
That is my plan I have seen quite a few items have dropped now the season is ending, will be getting some gear together during the winter whilst prices are lower.
I got my new Montana 6 on a rainy day at the end of a show and got a better price too. It was like the show 'Don't get done, get Dom'
I also have bought both the CAnopy and Carpet although we wont be trying the whole outfit out untill next wk. We bought the cArpet hoping it would help us keep warm, will be trying it all out for the first time next wk, i expect it will b chilly in the Evenings ...... brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr xx
We are just back from a quite windy weekend and the first time out in our new Monty. We have the carpet and the canopy, didn't use the canopy due to the wind but the carpet was great!
Not only did he help to keep the sig down in large gusts of wind it made it feel so much warmer, would def recommend getting it.
I have just brought mine home and ran the hoover over it, mind we do have quite a large living room to lie it out in!

We bought the Montana 6 earlier this year and were very lucky to be able to get the front extension from a different supplier as I believe they are sold out everywhere now. It is well worth the extra it you can get one when they come out again, we cook under ours, as we don't like cooking in the tent. I also find it good if it rains as you are not stepping straight out on to wet or muddy ground. Hope this helps
We love our carpet. Quiet, warm, not slippery, protects our SIG from hot/sharp/dog/kid hazards. I still put an extra picnic rug at the door for dirty feet, but as previously stated, it does brush/wipe clean fairly easily, not sure if you could actually 'wash' it though...?
