Hi Guys Can anyone tell me if these canisters can be used to power any single gas cooker (the ones that come in a plastic case) regardless of who the manufacturer is? I am going to use this purely as a back up so am not talking big usage just whether they all fit more than one brand.I ask the question because Argos have 12 for £14.99 which seems a cheaper way of buying them.Any advice please.....
Thanks for your fast response Widewolf, so does that mean only Camping Gas products which are the ones you refer too or will they also fit Gelert stoves? Its confusing when there are 220,227 and 250 canisters that I have seen, but they all look the same.Hopefully size is not an issue on this occasion
If your gas cooker takes 220 or 227 or whatever number, then you get a 220 or 227 or whatever canister. It does matter what make they are it's the number of the canister you need!
it would be worthwhile checking out the price of this gas at your local camping shop prior to deciding to go to Argos. I say that as i was looking for some CV470 cannisters 19.99 for four at Argos, but, ALL the local stores were out of stock, the nearest store that had any was a bit of a trek away, so decided to look in camping shop. their price was 4.99 each, so got the four and made a saving of 2p!
ok so it's not the monetry saving thats important, but it did save me the hassle of going out of my way to find an Argos branch with the gas in stock and at such a similar price too.

Thanks Eel Thats one thing I did get right, cost of a single can was £2.99 hence the Argos purchase, seems I need to buy the stove as well from them cos it appears that it will not be suitable for the Gelert portable stove.Oh well you live and learn.Cheers everyone.
we use the uno type stoves that come in a plastic suitcase ive used all makes of canisters just make sure that the cannister either have a notch on them or not (depending on you stove ) the notch on ours is also the safety catch when in the stove. ive bought them as little as £1.50 and i think the dearest being £2.50 each
some supermarket have them but maybe out of season now
The 220, 227 & 250 is the quantity of gas in the cartridge. We've got a Sunngas suitcase stove & I've tried about four different brands of cartridge in it - they all fit, but some last longer than others. The Camping Gaz ones from Argos are 250's, so they last the longest.
There's not a great deal of difference in how long they last, except with the 190 cartridge which I bought last year - me not realising that the 190 meant the quantity of gas in the cartridge, so I just took the one as usual for our 3 day trip & it ran out at 9.30pm when we were desperate for a cuppa, and all the shops were closed
I've used all different brands in my 2 stoves and they all fit. I hadn't noticed the numbers on the cans. That would explain why some seem to last longer than others. Thanks for that.
Oh thanks, seems I'm not the dumdum I thought I was lol .Thanks for that info Jean I was hoping that might be the case, not having used one of these stoves before,so the moral of the story is-when in doubt, check UKCS out!. Thankyou everyone.
