I was trying out my new tent the other weekend. I was sat under the awning reading a book. It was about 11:00 pm, very dark and quiet. I noticed the light was beginning to fade on my Coleman multifuel so I gave it a few extra pumps which quickly brightened it up. I cracked open another can and carried on reading. After a few minutes I became aware of a ghostly humming sound . It sounded like someone running thir fingure over the top of a glass. At first I could not tell where it was coming from and I was starting to get a bit spooked (I was, after all, totally alone on a big empty field deep in the Essex countryside). As it got louder I realised it was coming from the Coleman. The glass surrounding the mantles was vibrating causing it to make the humming sound. I checked the brightness control - it was set around the "10 O'clock" position. I found that the humming stopped by turning the brightness both up and down but when turned back to around 10 O'clock it started to up again. I've been using this lantern for the last 4 years and I have never known it do this before. Has anyone else experienced this ? I was slightly concerned that if I just left it to vibrate it would get louder and louder until the glass shattered, though I was getting a bit paranoid by then.
