Just got one, LED Lenser - Police Tech Focus, and it's a fairly amazing torch for all the size of it. Very impressed.
Has to be on par with my 4 D cell Maglite. I would know for sure if only I could find the Maglite! It's not what you would call an easy torch to lose! lol.
Well that was a quick decision Al... I'm glad your impressed with your new LED torch mate. 1.25 watts, spot to flood, 50 hours burn time, 60 lumens. Good choice Al No doubt you will add another one to your collection in time mate, I did lol. You will find the light spectrum and spread will be more useful than your 4D cell maglite. Why not update your maglite with an LED conversion kit too?
There are lots to choose from now but heres a few to start with Al
Terralux TLE-6EX Ministar 5 4-6 C & D Cell Maglight Bulb
Available in standard PR base for 4 to 6 cell C or D Cell Maglites ONLY (this means you can use this bulb in any of the 4 / 5 and 6 C or D cell maglights)
TerraLUX PowerPushMax which keeps light constant even as batteries get weak!
Rated for 100,000 hours of continuous use, that's over 10 years!
Upgrades High Quality C or D cell Incadescent Flashlights to Super Bright Tactical performing LED device.
I will certainly consider the Maglite conversion at a later date but first I still have to find the thing! I know I've seen it somewhere but just can't think where! I've checked the car, caravan and house and still no sign of it, think my mind is going! lol
Sorry I've joined this thread a bit late, but now that the nights are drawing in & I still want to get out running on the hills I would always choose a headtorch.

Jeff,
I'm just trying to get as much info as possible before I splash out!
Here are some of the claims from the site re the torch I am interested in.
KEY FEATURES :
Powerful, intense LED beam - projects over 60ft
Spot to flood focus beam
50 times brighter than standard C cell flashlights
Over 50 hours burn time from just 3 standard AAA batteries
Superior optics & reflector
But can it really be ''50 times brighter'' makes me wonder!
LED lights are the future I reckon. I do a lot of XC riding through the woods at night. I have 2 LED units, head mount and bar mount, and I can see well enough to be traveling at 20plus mph through the trees etc. I had Halogens before and the LED is brighter and whiter that the halogen. A decent LED torch with a focussed beam will be much brighter that any std torch. Dont shine them directly in your eyes BTW.

Got my LED for the 6D Maglite. Bl**** H*** these things really are bright!! way beyond the old Krypton bulb -which tbh was also very bright, but this... even the mutt is impressed
