I have recently bought a PDQ Mk3 xl awning. overall i am very impressed with this latest porch awning. It was very easy to erect and put away APART FROM ONE THING! the new centre pole, the instructions state that all poles easily fold and store within the bag! but this centre pole has a 3 wing nut clamp to attach to the front awning rail and you have to physically battle with three small wingnuts and a screwdriver to undo and then detacth from the caravan as well...I spoke to Pyramid Technical and they advised this is in fact what you have to do and recommended this so ensure longevity of the awning. What a load of rubbish was my reaction, this then becomes a 30minute awning with fiddley bits, making it no quicker than a traditional porch awning. Their instructions are misleading and if anyone is considering buying one make sure you ask for a MK1 centre pole instead of the MK3 pole, as the old one had a single wing nut pivot clamp detail with a retained bolt which allowed for a far easier removal. Pyramid have sent me one of these today free of charge, admittedly without any quibbling, so I have to take my hat off to them for a quick response.
Putting this aside it is still wrong that they suggest these awnings are two minutes!
I am sure though with this other adapted pole, it will erect quickly and overall putting aside the pole hasle last weekend the awning worked very well and appeared to be very strong and looked nice.
